Testing for EU players! :)

A couple of weeks ago we talked about our updated schedule, where we also mentioned the upcoming alpha, beta and release window of TERA.

Today we would like to provide you with an update on our progress behind the curtains. We recently started an extended internal testing phase for TERA and soon we’ll hit the next phase of our tests, the alpha.

During the first alpha stage, we’ll invite a small amount of community members, which will beaded to our internal testers. This new alpha stage will be completely under NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement).

There are a number of reasons why we’re starting with a smaller number of testers and why this initial test is under NDA. Firstly, we’ll be testing some important tools for the first time. This includes procedures and tools for Customer Service Agents, Game Masters and Quality Assurance. We’ll also rollout a new client, which is different to our Gamescom and of course our first test client we had back in March/April of this year. This new client will offer some changes, for example the modified Elin race will be included and playable for the first time.

In case you get invited, you’ll receive an email invitation with all the necessary details and also access to a separate forum for this alpha test. Please be aware that this is not our beta test, which is planned for early next year. During later alpha stages and during beta tests, we’ll invite a lot more testers and focus on different aspects of the game and services. As this test is under NDA and limited to a small external group, the testers won’t be allowed to talk about their experience publicly. Neither will they be allowed to publish or share screenshots, videos or other material from this alpha stage.

We’re looking forward to the upcoming first alpha stage of TERA. The feedback we’ll receive on the latest client, changes and tools will be very important for the development of TERA and for our support and QA processes.

As well as this, we are working hard on our community page, creating designs complete with new and extended content for players to enjoy. We are also working hard on a new fansite kit, along with an updated fansite roster to encourage new fansites to start up and share TERA with their own communities. A couple of very important systems we are working on as well are our account management system and launcher / patcher system.

Everyone who won’t receive an invitation should not worry, as we’ll invite more players throughout this and next year as well. We’ll keep you informed about the progress of TERA and what is going on in the background. Remember this first stage of the alpha is limited to internal testers and a small amount of external users and of course community members.
